Sabella Sopresa
2017 Lusitano/Quarter horse IALHA Registered
Her mother Alazne, registered with the ILHA and is my brother’s go-to horse whenever he has a tough job to do. Also can be used for guests to ride. 2017 smoky black Lusitano/QH mare ( Alazne’s daughter ) 14.3 hh. and still growing.
Very friendly, inquisitive personality; will come to you out of the pasture. A little cow horse from the very beginning. She would help with working our cows when little, and I would put a halter on her and took her along, with mama Alazne, to work the neighbors cattle when she was quite young. They can learn a lot that way, and when I started her riding, she just took to it like it was nothing. Being just a three year old, she is still in the bosal more than the bit. She is very well built, very balanced movement.
I like to spend as much time with the foals as possible. Just hanging around the barn or moving cattle. They can learn so much from just participating with everything that is going on. Sure, they make a mistake now and then, but they learn a lot and are really ready to go on to be well balanced confident horses, when you start them as 3 year olds. How would we learn if we aren’t given the opportunity to make some mistakes and acquire valuable experience there from ? I like to halter and rope train the foals early on so that they can come with me and mama any where we need to go. I have trained plenty of wild, fearful and unconfident young horses, but why not give them a head start by letting them participate when they are little. They can see how mama handles it, and it’s a lot of fun for every one also.
