Fuego at about 1 yr.

Fuego ~ 2020 chestnut  Lusitano/QH colt ~ SOLD

"Fuego" has gone to his new home in California, here are some coments his new owner said about him.

“He got a trim from a farrier who happened to be at the ranch today and was able to squeeze him in last minute. So funny when I asked if he had time to do a barefoot trim on my yearling, he sort of braced himself to say no. I can only assume he's seen more than his fair share of unhandled and ornery yearlings.
I then explained that I pick up his feet multiple times a week and he has been trimmed several times in the last months, and is very quiet and good. He's a gentle natured sweet horse. When I brought Fuego into the barn for his trim, he couldn't believe how big he is, 14.2hh at the wither, which means right now he is growing about an inch a month. I wouldn't be surprised if he tops out around 16-16.2hh when he's done growing.
After his trim, the farrier told me he is amazingly well-behaved for a yearling and gave me major kudos for his training, exclaiming that he would be more than happy to continue trimming him in the future. I, of course, could not take the credit because on one hand, it's simply his bloodline (Halconero line are notoriously gentle and very easy horses), and on the other, his breeder, Double K Ranch, gave him an incredible foundation of early life handling that set him up for success. My only hope is to continue to foster his love of people and enthusiasm for adventure.”

"Fuego" is a super well built and friendly colt. 13.3 hh at 1 year old. Sired by our young black Lusitano stallion "Notorio de Halconero". His grand sire "Halconero" ( 98% Veiga blood lines ) to quote from the "Lusitano Heritage" site; "Veiga horses are known to be very brave, sensitive, agile, and quick, better suited for bullfighting, which they were originally bred for. These horses also compete in Dressage and Working Equitation, at international level." )
Halconero is still sound and siring foals at the "Jaz Ranch" in Utah at 30 years old. After excelling in the "Bull Fighting" arena, before he came to the U.S., he did dressage, and grand pix jumping in the states. Tremendous versatility and longevity.
Mother, "Frosty" a foundation bred blue roan Quarter Horse mare (Abi's favorite cow working horse) When people come to help work the calves she is usually the one that they rope off of. "Cullpappers Frosty B" pedigree includes, Continental, Two Eyed Jack, Leo Hancock, Rip's Compadre and Blue Valentine. With cow working horses deep on both sides this colt has the determination and ability to really dig deep.

He has had his 'early learning' training foundation and is doing well with leading, respect, and yielding lessons. This little guy goes over and bugs the stallion until he will play with him.
VERY responsive and with agility and determination "Fuego" want's a competitive lifestyle.
Combining beauty, athleticism, graceful movement and natural cow sense, the Lusitano/QH. is ideally suited for Working equitation, Western Dressage, Vaquero style riding and any activity requiring balance and athleticism

Here are 2 short videos of him as a yearling video1 & video2 .

These horses out of Rip Cord Flash lines have been great horses. This colt’s uncle "Blue Sage" was high selling horse at the 2014 live TV auction, Superior Sales, RFDTV. Sold for $15,000 as a 3 yr. old

“Fuego is officially 18 months old,”

“I don't often get to play with Fuego, but gosh is he smart! I think I've had a total of 5 clicker sessions with him over the last two months, and he 100% already knows how to learn with a clicker and associate the click to the behavior, though he was a major treat monster that very first session, all shark! He figured out how to take treats respectfully with only his lips by session 3! 
What I love about him is that he is so brave and curious. This is the first time I've asked him to walk over the "bridge," and I just love how his instinct is to touch new things he is unsure about with his nose. “

“Look at my baby! Just look at him! Moments of what he will blossom into, when he isn't standing like a gangly yearling that is. Proud and true to his heritage! Fuego certainly is something! “

Here is a video from when he was a baby.
