Fantasia Alazne

2014 Lusitano Mare 15.1/2 "hh

Alazne is Homozygous black with 1 cream gene which makes her a smoky black.  Her dam is the buckskin Lusitano mare “Topaz E”.   See color test.
My first Lusitano mare and my best cow horse, partially due to the fact that we have done everything together for the past 5 years.
She came from Oregon as an untrained 5 year old in 2005. We had a little difficulty with the concept of standing still at the hitching rail and some prancing when, early on,  we went directly out to riding alone. Very responsive, sensitive and amiable. I have hopped on her bare back, with a piece of twine or sometimes nothing at all, and cantered back to the barn to get some tool that we needed out in the pasture. A very kind and loving horse, that I will trust with about any job that needs done, and most anyone, with some experience, that visits here and wants to ride. I rode her out to the east cow pasture, pulled off the saddle, replaced it with the harness and cart ( from Abi’s mare ) and drove her right off  ( that is the driving picture )  NO preparation necessary. She and I have roped and doctored cattle out in the pasture, rope calves in the corral, and then I can step off and hand her to a lady that has never ridden her before and let them work calves in the roping corral. One of those horses you just can’t do without. Please watch her videos.
We didn’t have a Lusitano stallion available at the time, and I was training and riding her. However she got pregnant to a QH stud colt that was supposed to be a gelding, so she had a surprise foal, a very nice smoky black filly ( Sabella )  in 2007.   Sabella was one of the friendliest foals I have ever seen, right from the beginning, and turned out to be a very nice young mare. Alazne had a solid black Lusitano stud colt this year, that I hope will go to someone interested in breeding as well as training and riding. I am confident that he is stallion quality in every way. He whinnies to me when I go up to the barn to do chores. He has gone out to pasture recently. but left mama the other day, and came running up to the barn to see me. I think that he is an exceptional colt.
